NOISE ABATEMENT
Getting away from the noise of "civilization" is a big draw for all of us. In 2009, we were asked by the mayor at the time, Joseph Loeffler, to research noise laws and provide recommendations. VOBEC's written recommendations were incorporated into the Village Code in March of 2010.
Since that time, VOBEC has worked with the Quality of Life Committee and others to encourage enforcement of the laws. Because enforcement is complaint driven, residents who have noise issues are encouraged to register their complaints with the police department at 631-583-5866. The police department has been found to be very responsive to addressing and resolving these complaints.
VOBEC is a mayor-appointed commission whose purpose is to preserve and improve the quality of the natural and man-made environment within the Village in the face of population growth, urbanization, and technological change and their subsequent demands on natural resources.
These areas of focus reflect this mission of maintaining and improving the quality of our life experience and our efforts to foster unified action on environmental problems.
